Whether opaque or transparent the mysterious light-reflecting qualities of
glass are irresistible
in both practical or decorative use.
Peter St. Clair has been
designing and making his unique, handmade, free-blown, decorated, iridescent glass since 1976.
The
colours and decorations are created from a combination of carefully
selected mineral oxides and precious metals, which are trapped within
several layers of clear lead crystal glass in the hot making process.
His work has been
described as 'antiques of the future' .
These are 21st century designs
using Egyptian techniques combined with influences from 18th century Bristol and Nailsea
glass as
well as designs by the world famous glass-artists Tiffany and Gallé.
His ambitions are to continue a regeneration of glassmaking in the
southwest, and has recently launched two new collections, Nailsea Glass
and 'Fabrille-style' Glass.
